Pretty much everyone who knows me knows I LOVE saunas!

My sauna is my happy place!

Prior to having my own sauna, I was going to one of my fave spots in Charlotte - KUR Health Spa. It's my happy place and the staff there is the best in the biz! I love their infrared saunas, and before Covid, I'd try to go once a week. Once the quarantine hit last March, those days of weekly visits to the sauna were over for this Mama. :(

After extensive research, we decided to invest in a HigherDose at home sauna. One of my favorite things about this sauna is the fact that it's portable, and I can literally sauna in my bed! Well on top of my bed to be exact. It's basically a sauna sleeping bag!

HigherDose is offering $75 off to my community with the code LIZV75. --> Grab it here!

I LOVE my sauna, and at this point in quarantine, I couldn't live without it. My husband gave it to me as my birthday gift at the beginning of the pandemic. #bestgiftever I wouldn't be able to practice self care on a regular basis without it.

There are just some days during quarantine when a workout isn't going to happen. Between the kids, quarantine life, and general mom exhaustion - sometimes I Just need to relax! But relaxing in the sauna allows me to chill and still burn calories. Some sauna companies claim you'll burn up to 500 calories in a session. Do I believe that? NO! But you're definitely burn extra calories while sweating out excess water weight.

I find if I sauna regularly, the following things happen to me:

- I lose weight and it's easier to maintain my ideal weight.

- My skin clears. I have very congested, oily skin with overactive glands. The sauna is so helpful for my skin issues!

- It helps me detox and mitigate the effects of all my extra quaran-cocktails. I place a castor oil pack over my liver and let the heat do all the work.*

- It relaxes me! I hop in, turn on Netflix and just chill. Sweating it all out makes me feel so refreshed and renewed.

- Helps me sleep better. On the days I'm able to sauna I get a much better night's sleep!

- It helps me increase my water intake. This may seem counter-intuitive, but on the days I sauna I make sure I'm drinking a ton of water. It makes me more present/aware of how much water I need.

- When I'm PMSing hard, I hop into my sauna and sweat away the extra bloat and PMS baddies.

- It helps boost my immune function. I have an immune deficiency, and I catch all the germs and viruses my kids bring home. Ick! I hop into my sauna at the first sign of illness, and it works like a charm!

*This is the castor oil I use for my castor oil packs. I douse a 100% cotton cheesecloth in castor oil and place it over my liver (right side of my ribs) and the castor oil is able to deeply penetrate to your liver with the help of the heat from the sauna.
